Lapses Of Judgement
OK, here is time lapse footage of few phases of the MRolla project. First we have a the day we turned the Volatile-RAM MR2 into an 112 HP rickshaw (not dyno confirmed). Then we test fit with the already chopped Corolla.
Then we spend a bunch of frames per hour checking fit clearance problems.
Finally we squash our last clearance bugs and start welding.
So at the end of this video and the end of today, the cars (Paul pointed out we can stop calling it "cars" and start calling a "car") are welded at the frame and roof. Floors, firewall, and center tunnel are all mated ready to weld.

Choppy Too
This weekend we chopped the MR2 and started aligning the 2 frames.
Saturday was more prep work but Sunday morning we went nuts with the Sawzall and grinders.
We discovered 87-89 MR2 brakes make an easy upgrade for the 88-92 Corolla GTS.
By late afternoon, even though there were more productive priorities to work on, we couldn't stop ourselves from lining up the donors to preview the MRolla. We have a ton of prep and planning before we can actually start welding, but the project is getting so exciting we have a lot of forward momentum.

Not Just A Figure Of Speech
Reno will be a full 24 hour race. I usually have to explain "24 Hour Of Lemons" is more like 15 hours over a two days, but HQ just announced the May Reno-Fernley race will be 24 hours. In a row.
I think we're thrilled. It will be an epic challenge. Can hardly wait to spend 24 hours straight at a track with no paddock power or plumbing.
We need drivers. We are planning to enter Paul's Deathmobile for redundancy "just in case" the MRolla dies or just sucks to drive. That means we have 48 hours of seat time to fill. I'm full recruiter mode. If your mom has $400 bucks and fireproof long johns, I'll give her seat time.
I think we're going to need more than usual quantities of brake pads (especially), tires, fuel, and caffeinated beverages.
Lights. We also need lights. I'm thinking a set from a junked F-250 will bolt right up.
I wonder if the 24 format will draw more or fewer teams?
